About ME

I am Erik Breen

We have to learn to think in a new way

Integrated decision-making will enhance long term outcomes and generate positive impact benefitting all stakeholders.

In 2019 I founded Infinsus, which is dedicated to integrating finance and sustainability. Through Infinsus I provided in-depth and independent consultancy services on integrating finance and sustainability. My purpose is to stimulate better informed, integrated decision-making to enhance long term outcomes and generate positive impact benefitting all stakeholders.

Data has four problems that need to be solved

Besides integrated thinking, the need for high quality data is crucial to enable integrated decision making. But there are four problems with data. These are cost, coverage, quality and usage.

In order to help tackle these data problems, I accepted my current position with Dataland. No one can solve these problems alone, but together we can! The promise of Dataland is that we will liberate data, put data owners back in control and make high quality data available for its users at shared cost.

Infinsus founded

I have been at the forefront of global developments in corporate governance, responsible investment, impact investing and integrated reporting. I have international experience as board member in developing and challenging strategy, in promoting effective risk oversight and in fostering open board cultures. I have always used my influence to shape better, integrated decision-making.

Robeco

My career started at Robeco in 1996 and I held various positions as Fund Manager at the investment department. I initiated and founded Robeco’s voting and engagement activities in 2004 and I was directly involved in the acquisition of SAM. I was the architect behind Robeco’s Responsible Investment strategy and personally wrote most of the policies which still apply today. I provided strategic advice to a breadth of Robeco’s institutional clients on deploying and embedding responsible investing. In 2013 I left Robeco in my last position as Senior Vice President and Head of the Responsible Investing department.

Experienced board member

I am an experienced, international board member. I was Chair of the Integrated Reporting Framework Board from 2016 until the consolidation of the Value Reporting Foundation (VRF) into the IFRS Foundation in August 2022. Prior to that I was a Council Member of the IIRC (2013-2016).

In 2011 I became a Governor of International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN). Three years later, in 2014, I became Chair of the Board of Governors until reaching the statutory maximum board tenure of six year in 2017.

I was Treasurer and a member of the Executive Board of Eumedion (2011-2017).

In 2023 I joined Dataland as Managing Director.

Triodos Investment Management

I joined Triodos Investment Management in 2014 as Manager SRI to develop a more integrated investment strategy for Triodos IM’s equities and bond funds, resulting in insourcing asset management. I have built a solid and experienced team of portfolio managers and analysts, implemented the technical infrastructure and embedded the legal requirements into the new department’s policies and processes. More integrated investment analysis and engagement enabled more positive impact through investing in listed equities and bonds. I founded and chaired Triodos IM’s Investment Policy Committee. During my tenure the assets under management in the SRI funds almost tripled. I left Triodos IM in 2019 in my last position as Director of Impact Equities & Bonds.
